![]() Take food and at least two bottles of water per person. If you're not in shape, just take your time and take lots of breaks. My husband, who has two artificial hips and arthritic feet hiked the trail on July 21, 2018. This hike has it all.meadows, forest, berries, waterfalls, ponds, streams, pit toilets, and usually wildlife. ![]() We also saw moose up at the lake, a cow and her calf. One woman broke her wrist trying to get by the bear. Later in the afternoon, she held up about three dozen hikers trying to make it down the trail. We then discovered that she had charged some of the hikers before us. She had been on the trail, but had meandered further up the side of the mountain. This year we met up with a Grizzly and her cub. Some of the rangers I know refer to them as "dinner bells." Talk loudly, sing songs, make noise when you go into an area where your sight is hampered. PLEASE DO NOT BUY BEAR BELLS! They attract the cubs and mama isn't far behind. So, please take bear spray and keep it OUT OF YOUR BACKPACK and in the holster on your hip or wherever you can get it fast. However, my life passed before me and I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience. My first trip to the lake in 2013, I came around a bend and was face to face with a Grizzly who, despite his ambling towards me, couldn't have cared less that I was there. However, Iceberg Lake trail is more than a destination, it's an experience. This year, 2018, there were few icebergs.puny ones. Some years there are lots of icebergs in the lake and other years there are none.
